W hat may be the best Minolta SLR, mine for $50. This thing feels like it’s milled from a solid block of steel. Heavy and feels like real quality. Unfortunately t he mirror is staying up unless I move the exposure dial, but other than that it seems to be working perfectly.
Photos from the trip to come probably tomorrow...

Nice!!
Hope you’re able to get the sticky mirror resolved. I had a similar issue with a Canon AE-1 that I picked up a few years ago,and someone recommended this guy to get it repaired. T he foam seals had started to deteriorate and gummed up the inner workings which I guess isn’t that uncommon on these older cameras.

Did a quick search to make sure it doesn’t have mirror lock up function. Found this...might be battery... https://www.photo.net/discuss/threads/minolta-xe-7-mirror-gets-stuck.407419/

Cool find! I’ve got a Konica of that vintage that I absolutely love. Old mechanical cameras are works of art in their own way.

The battery it came with was long dead, so I’ve just put fresh batteries in it. I was hoping it was just the battery, but after reading that thread, hopefully it’s just some degrading foam making it stick....

That’s what I’m hoping is all that’s wrong. I’ve gotta track someone down locally who’s familiar with these, I want to avoid shipping it if possible

I was nervous about it too. It was also not a quick process. Think he had it for about 2 months.

The viewfinder in those is amazing for the era, and the best part is that there’s so much metal in them, they’re worth more than the purchase price as scrap. Also they are a great bicep workout..

That is super clean looking. Hope you can figure out the mirror issue! I’ve had 4 different Minolta SLRs now and none were that clean, that black, or that nice of a model.
